Mapping of Services within NSW Health for People with an Intellectual Disability
Develop a web based service directory of available NSW Health service and resources for people with an Intellectual Disability.
Identify existing specialist service and gaps in service for future planning.
Information collected will be developed into a web based service directory for use by clinicians/health professionals, consumers and their families/carers.
The information collected will also be used to support local and state-wide service delivery and to identify gaps in service for future planning.
This is an initiative of the Access and Equity subcommittee of the Intellectual Disability Network which includes three multidisciplinary pilot clinics for people with intellectual disability.
Key contacts and relevant clinicians in each local health district will be identified. Information (from key contact and clinicians) will be collected and collated in relation to:
- Disability Action Plan
- Key contact/resource person
- Available adjustments/considerations within service provision
- Availability of disability awareness training
- Identify specialist services
The service directory will be available for clinicians/health professionals, consumers and their families/carers to assist in identifying specialist services/clinicians for people with an intellectual disability. The purpose of this is to improve the health outcomes of people with an intellectual disability ("right service, at the right time, at the right place").
