Factsheet on Food and Nutrition in NSW Hospitals
To provide introductory information for patients and their carers about food and nutrition care in NSW hospitals.
Benefits include clear information for consumers on food and nutrition care provided in hospital.
Clinicians, consumers and food service professionals within the ACI Nutrition Network have developed this factsheet.
It explains the importance of good nutrition in hospital, what patients can expect during their stay, how they are supported with special diets and related assistance, and who to speak to if they have any questions or concerns.
The factsheet supports the NSW Health policy directive for Nutrition Care (PD2011_78).
The resource was piloted in six different sites during 2012 to obtain feedback from patients, carers and staff.
The factsheet is available on the ACI website. It has been translated into seven different languages. LHDs can order printed copies in bulk via the electronic Print on Demand (ePOD) system.
